Vancouver, BC, (April 7, 2005) - Carolyn Allain, David Ray and Christina Margellos Bulbrook of Cheap and Dirty Productions are pleased to announce that their feature length film, Fetching Cody, went to camera on March 29, will be wrapping on April 16 and is being shot in the greater Vancouver area.
Fetching Cody, a fantasy comedy, is about a street kid named "Art" who is trying to save his girlfriend's life by traveling back in time in an old comfy chair covered in Christmas lights. After going back a number of times to different events in her past, he discovers that nothing has an effect on her steadily declining condition in the present. After eliminating all of the variables, it dawns on him that the biggest problem in her life might be him. He journeys back one last time to make sure that they never meet, influencing their destinies in ways he never anticipated.
Fetching Cody stars Jay Baruchel (Million Dollar Baby, Almost Famous, Undeclared) as the lead character, Art. He is accompanied by Vancouver actors Sarah Lind (Edgemont, The Clearing, Paradise Redrawn) and Jim Byrnes (Wise Guy, Highlander).
David Ray,
who directed Second Wave and Gray Matter, is the writer and director for
the film. He co-created the story concept with Carolyn Allain (Making
the Cut, Second Wave, Gray Matter) who is also the co-producer with Christina
Margellos Bulbrook (A Girl is a Girl). The DOP is Paul Mitchnik, CSC,
(Murder at the Presidio, Lost Angel),
the art director is Marti Wright (Marine Life, Jinnah on Crime), sound
is being done by William Butler (Kingdom Hospital, Good Boy) and special
effects are being done by Toby Lindella (Butterfly Effect) who was nominated
for three Emmys for X-Files.
Fetching Cody will be broadcast on Movie Central and Showcase and is supported by Telefilm Canada, Canwest Western Independent Producers Fund, Praxis, and Astral Media.
