TRAILER PARK BOYS HITCH THEIR TRAILER TO THE BIG SCREEN
Telefilm Canada announces feature film of successful television series

Montreal, April 28, 2005 - Telefilm Canada is proud to announce that the much-lauded and groundbreaking Showcase series Trailer Park Boys was successful in the most recent national feature film comparative and will move into production in late 2005 for an anticipated theatrical release in the summer of 2006.

Trailer Park Boys - The Movie will team up series director, head writer and creator Mike Clattenburg and the original cast with Executive Producer Ivan Reitman, the creative force behind some of Hollywood's best-loved and successful comedies. Mike Clattenburg, Barrie Dunn and Mike Volpe, the producers of the hit series will produce the feature film along with Joe Medjuck and Jackie Marcus from Montecito Pictures, Ivan Reitman's production company. Tom Pollock of Montecito will also executive produce. Motion Picture Distribution LP will release the film across Canada.

Telefilm Canada's Atlantic region office has been a part of the Trailer Park Boys series since the early stages of development in 1999, before anyone had even heard of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles. "When the creative team of Trailer Park Boys made the pitch to Telefilm there was no doubt that they were professional and focused," said Gordon Whittaker, Director, Atlantic Region for Telefilm Canada. "They had a vision of who these characters were, their lot in life and how they would connect with Canadian audiences - and they were right."

The Gemini Award-winning Trailer Park Boys is now in its fifth season and is the highest-rated Canadian series on specialty television. The feature film proposal submitted to Telefilm at the January 17, 2005 deadline presented an engaging script with great box-office potential, which has the terrible threesome caught in new and hilarious escapades.

Ralph Holt, National English-language Feature Film Head for Telefilm added: "The entire package was the most solid, fully realized submission the feature film team at Telefilm has seen in recent years. And this speaks directly to what we are all working towards: unique scripts that reflect what Canadians want to see at the movie theatres. The producers, writer and director have touched on something that appeals to viewers, and we're hopeful it will translate to the big screen."

Trailer Park Boys - The Movie is an Alliance Atlantis and Ivan Reitman Presentation of a Trailer Park Production/Topsail Production and a Mike Clattenburg Film. It is produced with the financial participation of Telefilm Canada, and assistance from the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation, in association with Showcase Television, and the Canadian Film and Video Tax Credit and Nova Scotia Tax Credit.
